How does the ‘revolutionary’ forum presented here work?
Please read this details explanation.
THIS IS THE KEY FORUM CONCEPT- A Torus styled forum.
Could this idea be used to reconnect the entire world in a much more intelligent way? How?
Yes, very easily.
You can read the detailed explanation here-
Be sure you have first read THE KEY FORUM CONCEPT above.
How is this online forum different to social media and our other messaging apps?
Online discussions tend to be complex and often go nowhere.
Facebook is very much a one sided discussion (with the local and relevant authorities usually absent). It has introduced millions of virtual groups that are sometimes interesting but unable to co-ordinate complex interactions and implement meaningful resolutions. The group admins do not have nearly the variety of options needed to facilitate large group discussions and the generally end up losing focus or unable to reach consensus.
Leaders who use Twitter usually use it to make announcements- broadcasts, not discussions….
Twitter is not capable of dealing with deep complex issues on mass and video conferencing is equally clumsy. More info about that here- https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=113678593491799&id=106338700892455
Good Forum software is designed with built-in flexibility and many important structural options that give the forum administrator/s many options that can be used to help facilitate large group efficient and transparent discussions.
Why is this approach ushering a new paradigm? Why is this unlike all of our other solutions?
The term “paradigm,” from the Greek paradeigma (“pattern”), was used by Kuhn to denote a conceptual framework shared by a community of scientists and providing them with model problems and solutions.
“The dynamics underlying the major problems of our time—cancer, crime, pollution, nuclear power, inflation, the energy shortage—are all the same. We have reached a time of dramatic and potentially dangerous change, a turning point for the planet as a whole. We need a new vision of reality, one that allows the forces transforming our world to flow together as a positive movement for social change.” Fritjof Capra
The above quote explains how a paradigm shift is different to our other solutions. It is a quantum leap from one way of looking and doing everything to a completely new way that has never been done before…. A holistic shift- all encompassing.
Of course many think that we must change our global policies, but we have been doing that for centuries already. The ‘international community is just a figure of speech that doesn’t really exist- Same as the ‘ Local community.
The thing is that if we shift our focus from the global and national to the local where it matters most, and we attend to all our local matters, and if everyone local focuses on their local matters soon we will transform the world without too much difficulty.
Getting out of this hole we have dug for ourselves over the past thousands of years will be a lot easier than it has been making the hole.
“The more we study the major problems of our time, the more we come to realize that they cannot be understood in isolation. They are systemic problems, which means that they are interconnected and interdependent.” Fritjof Capra
What is the biggest difference between the forum concepts presented in this website compared to the online community forums that alredy exist?
Although the existing Local Community forums* are impressive in scale, on closer examination all the real-life examples are very limited in their scope and processes. They can only deal with a limited number of subjects within specified parameters and time-frames.
*For example, Decide Madrid- https://www.facebook.com/106338700892455/photos/a.106377847555207/113204893539169/
The forum concept presented here (on this demo/explanatory website), is UNIQUE in that it can facilitate various mass processes simultaneously, connecting locals not only with each other, but also with the many processes that affect them (24/7, with many languages participating in real-time).
(*The exception is found in a small town called Jun, in Spain, Where they used Twitter to unite all the local community communications but Twitter cannot deal with complex issues and they were designing their own software to overcome the Twitter limitations even though they only had 2500 people participating).

Will we have to destroy all the old systems before we can re-build a new?
We do not need to change anything before we begin implementing this solution- The change is already occurring. All we need is a holistic way of looking and dealing with our shifting local dynamics in a more constructive and speedily manner. (A stitch in time save nine).
“Cultural historians have often pointed out that the evolution of cultures is characterized by a regular pattern of rise, culmination, decline, and disintegration. The decline will occur when a culture has become too rigid – in its technologies, ideas, or social organization – to meet the challenge of changing conditions. This loss of flexibility is accompanied by a general loss of harmony which inevitably leads to the outbreak of social discord and disruption. During this process of decline and disintegration, while the cultural mainstream has become petrified by clinging to fixed ideas and rigid patterns of behavior, creative minorities will appear on the scene and transform some of the old elements into new configurations which become the new rising culture. While transformation is taking place, the declining culture refuses to change, clinging ever more rigidly to its outdated ideas; nor will the dominant social institutions hand over their leading roles to the new cultural forces. But they will inevitably go on to decline while the rising culture will continue to rise, and eventually will assume its leading role. As the turning point approaches, the realization that evolutionary changes of this magnitude cannot be prevented by short-term political activities provides our strongest hope for the future.”
